Blue Open Access HMO/POS Brochure 
This point-of-service (POS) plan offers choice by combining the security and advantages of an HMO with the flexibility of traditional indemnity coverage. BlueChoice Option gives employees preventive care coverage with convenience, flexibility, choice and control.
Point-of-Service means employees choose at the time of service whether they prefer to use network providers or non-network providers. Although visits to non-network providers require higher out-of-pocket payments, members may decide each time they seek care whether or not they wish to use the BlueChoice Option Network.
Each BlueChoice Option member must select a primary care physician (PCP) at the point of enrollment who will coordinate most in-network levels of care. Again, although members are required to select a PCP at enrollment, members may choose to go out-of-network at any time.
